Ronald Spalter


Deputy Chief Operating Officer

Ron Spalter serves as Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the City University of New York. In this capacity he has responsibilities for pursuing the University's goals with respect to productivity and efficiencies, Environmental Health and Safety, sustainability, and introducing new information systems and practices to further the goals of an integrated University.

Prior to joining the Chancellery, Ron served in many positions at Borough of Manhattan Community College, culminating in his appointment as Vice President for Administration and Planning; and Director of Human Resources and University Vice President for City College. His experience during more than 30 years at CUNY includes oversight of several hundred million dollars in construction, as well as developing and deploying campus wide information system applications and infrastructures. He has also managed annual operating and capital budgets and has been accountable to more than 10 college presidents for a broad range of administrative activities including Finance, Facilities, Strategic Planning, Human Resources, Enrollment Management, Information Technology and Economic Development efforts. He has chaired or served as Treasurer for several campus related corporate entities.

Ron received his B.S. in Business, Magna Cum Laude, from LIU in 1969 and earned an MBA from NYU in 1971.

Ron has taught Business Management at BMCC, and Higher Education Administration in the Graduate School of Education at NYU, and currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at Baruch College's Graduate School of Public Affairs.

Ron is a native New Yorker, married for 38 years with a daughter in Graduate School.
