Volunteer at the 2013 Citizenship Now! Call-In
The CUNY/ Daily News Citizenship NOW! Call-in is a week-long phone bank that provides callers with quick, easy, and free information about United States citizenship and other immigration issues. Each year, hundreds of volunteers like you staff phone lines open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., answering questions in a variety of languages from callers all over the country. Last year’s event was an enormous success: more than 350 volunteers stepped up to the challenge and answered over 14,000 calls, which brought our total to over 100,000 calls since the inception of the call-in. Some of New York’s most prominent elected officials stopped by to offer their support, including Mayor Mike Bloomberg, United States Senators Chuck Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand.
This year, we hope to shatter this record, so we need your help. Please register to volunteer at the 2013 CUNY/ Daily News Citizenship NOW! Call-in. The event will be held at The New Community College at CUNY from Monday, April 22nd until Friday, April 26th. We will hold a comprehensive training session on Tuesday, April 16th to familiarize you with the process, review our Citizenship and Immigration Law Manual <pdf> , and outline what you can expect.
