A Letter from the Director

To our readers:
Immigration reform is moving forward. The 68-32 Senate vote was a great victory and a step toward a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Despite opposition from many Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, I believe that President Obama will sign an immigration reform bill into law before the end of this year.
In any event, we cannot wait for a final Congressional vote to begin preparing for reform. So today, we launch a new page on the Citizenship Now! website to inform our volunteers and the public about the pending legislation. As the bill becomes closer to being enacted, we will hold educational events to explain how the bill will impact the lives of immigrants.
The bill is a complicated mix of a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, changes in family and business immigration rules, a special path for Dreamers and even a retiree visa. Our new page will help you sort it all out. Check our page frequently for a selection of articles that I will select to keep you up-to-date on immigration reform news.
