Borough President Scott M. Stringer
CUNY has been a beacon of opportunity for over 160 years. With more than 269,000 degree-credit students and 270,000 adult, continuing and professional education students--from over 200 countries--few institutions better reflect New York’s truly unique diversity. As a CUNY graduate myself (John Jay College), I know first hand how CUNY opens up opportunities for its students. That’s why as Borough President, I worked with CUNY to open a new entrepreneurship incubator at the Grove School of Engineering to unlock STEM innovation critical to the 21st century economy. As the University embarks on a nationwide search for its next Chancellor, we must ensure that, for the next 160 years, CUNY continues to be an accessible, affordable ladder to the middle class for all New Yorkers.
