Additional ASAP Program Details
ASAP Leadership Program
At the beginning of every spring semester teams of outstanding ASAP students are nominated and selected from each college to participate in a series of interactive leadership and team-building workshops. After the opening workshop each team is charged with initiating, planning, and carrying out an activity to address an issue important within their local ASAP communities before the end of the semester.
ASAP Summer Institute
Before the beginning of the fall semester, all incoming ASAP students participate in a 3-day summer institute involving community building activities and arts workshops. The ASAP Summer Institute orients students to program expectations and begins to build community among fellow students and ASAP staff.
The ASAP Seminar is a two-semester course required for all ASAP students. Students meet once a week at their ASAP campus for 8 - 10 weeks each semester, and cumulatively build skills from one meeting to the next. The course is non-credit and run by hired facilitators.
