ASAP Summer Institute

Before each entering cohort begins full-time study with ASAP, they participate in 3-day summer institutes at their respective community college. The ASAP Summer Institute orients students to program expectations and begins to build community among fellow students and ASAP staff. All students read an assigned text selected by their college ASAP team such as  Who Moved My Cheese by Dr. Spencer Johnson, The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz, and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Themes from the reading are infused into interactive workshops led by teaching artists from the CUNY Creative Arts Team (CAT) or EKOarts. Artist-led workshops use performance approaches to explore issues such as openness to change, effective communication, and self advocacy.
