La Guardia Community College ASAP ’13
I was born in Afghanistan but I was mainly raised here in the United States. When I graduated from high school I went to Medical Assistant School. After successfully completing the course, I went to work in a private medical office as a Medical Assistant. I worked there for three years and then I decided to continue my education in the healthcare field. My professional goal is to become a Registered Nurse. I am planning to earn an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Nursing, and then I will go on to earn a B.S.N. to attain a full-time nursing position. I am willing to put in time and effort to improve my knowledge and understanding in the medical field. I made it into La Guardia’s nursing program and I am in my first semester with the help of ASAP.
Without this ASAP program, I don’t think I would’ve made it this far. I didn’t know anything about ASAP when I started my freshman year at La Guardia Community College. I am the first in my family to attend college and make them proud. I decided to join the program because of the benefits that were going to be provided to me. The benefits helped me the most throughout this past year, and because of ASAP, I didn’t have to worry about anything that would interfere with my education. The staff members are amazing and helpful, and make you feel comfortable in expressing your feelings and concerns. The advisement that ASAP provides, plus free textbooks, metrocards, tutoring, and making friends are the benefits that every student would want to have when attending college. What I value and appreciate the most is the advisement I get. I didn’t know my advisor when I joined the program but now I’ve known her for a year. She held my hand from day one and will continue to help me until I achieve my goals. ASAP has changed me from a weaker person to a stronger student, and has become a part of my family. With ASAP’s support, I am able to continue my education and know I will accomplish my goals soon.
ASAP, all I want to say is thank you!
