Welcome! Prepare to apply to CUNY as a general freshman applicant if
you have already completed high school/secondary school and have not previously attended a college, university or any postsecondary institution within or outside the United States

the Admission review process

The admission review process provides us with an opportunity to examine your entire high school/secondary school academic record, which includes: academic units, grades/grade trends, and standardized test scores (SAT, ACT and NY State Regents). To be admitted into a four-year college, you must demonstrate college-level readiness in reading, writing and mathematics. Please review the Freshman Admission Profile <pdf> to get an idea of the mean grade point average (GPA) and SAT scores for last year's admitted freshman class.

  • The GED test score is one of several components evaluated during the admission review; you must also meet the academic requirements as outlined above. See the minimum GED test scores <pdf> required by each CUNY college.
