Do I have to register to search for jobs? No, User Name and Password are only required to apply for jobs.
Are there rules for User Name and Password? There are no specific rules, but you should keep your User Name and Password to track your applications.
What information must I send? All applicants must provide contact data (Name, Address, Phone, and Email), and one uploaded document with the requested information (usually cover letter and resume). We also ask for self-identification data; this step is optional. Follow all instructions on each posting. There may be extra requirements such as sending additional materials via email.
What file formats can I use? Attach all items as one uploaded document. We ask for a Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Text (.txt) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) file. The file should be 20 MB or less in size. Also, to prevent possible issues with uploading, we recommend you use a short file name (12 characters or less).
Can I store my resume and other materials for a future application? Yes, you can post a document to the “My Careers” section. If you include a cover letter, be aware that the same cover letter will accompany each application you make using this file. Some applicants will prefer to upload a new resume/cover letter for each application.
Can an application be revised after it is submitted? An application cannot be revised once it has been submitted. You will need to complete another application.
I saw a job posting a few days ago, and it’s no longer on the system. What happened? Note the Closing Date at the end of each posting. We recommend you do not wait until the last minute to apply: system maintenance may limit your access on some days, and in rare cases, Closing Dates may be adjusted after posting.
What happens after I apply? We will send an email confirmation message. If you have an email filter, note the sender will be: cunyfirst-do-not-reply@mail.cuny.edu. You will be notified directly if the search committee needs more information or wishes to interview you. Applicants may not be notified of the outcome until the final conclusion of the search.
