Building the Foundations for Pedagogical Research: A One-Day Grant Writing Workshop is designed to build upon last year's workshop that addressed topics relevant to developing pedagogical research projects. However, the 2012 workshop promises to provide valuable information and resources regardless of whether you are new to the field of pedagogical research or have experience with this aspect of the C3IRG program.
Based on participant feedback, we have decided to structure the 2012 workshop a little differently than in years past:
- We will be having two practical and information-rich presentations in the morning addressing the design and execution of an active federally funded pedagogical research project and the new CUNY IRB process.
- These individual presentations will be followed by two one-hour breakout sessions that everyone at the workshop will be able to attend in turn: one concerning the development of project evaluation and assessment objectives, and one providing strategic advice on how to grow seed grants into competitive proposals for external funding.
- In the afternoon we have scheduled, Dr. Pamela Brown, an NSF Program Director from the Division of Undergraduate Education to speak about Pedadagogical Innovation and Research Opportunities at the NSF. Dr. Brown plans to conduct a brief mock panel review.
- The workshop will culmintae in a roundtable of former and current C3IRG winners, and community college faculty active in pedagogical research, to address the entire group. The faculty participating in this part of the program will present their research as a well as speak to their application process for the C3IRG program and other funding opportunities, such as the NSF TUES grant.
